Mayfield Day, one of the suburb’s most beloved community events, is making its much-anticipated return on Saturday 26 October 2024, bringing with it a day of family-friendly festivities at Webb Park. From 10am to 3pm, the park will transform into a hub of activities, offering something for all ages to enjoy.

Now in its third year, the event has become a local favourite, drawing large crowds from across Newcastle. Organised by the Mayfield Business Improvement Association (MBIA), in collaboration with City of Newcastle, Optus, and Mex Club, Mayfield Day offers an exciting mix of live music, food trucks, market stalls, kids’ workshops, and entertainment that has grown bigger and better with each edition.

Tony Sansom, Chair of MBIA, expressed his excitement about the event’s return: “Mayfield Day has quickly become a standout celebration for our community. It’s amazing to see how much support and enthusiasm we’ve received from both locals and businesses, and it’s helped put Mayfield on the map as a vibrant and welcoming suburb.”

For families with young children, the event promises a range of fun-filled activities, including face painting, balloon art, and creative workshops. Optus is sponsoring a special kids’ zone, featuring messy play with The Creative Co, colourful body painting by Kiki’s, and rainbow hair braiding.

Food lovers will be spoiled for choice, with gourmet burgers, carnival treats, and a selection of sweet delights like Belgian waffles and Dutch pancakes. Local vendors will also be showcasing their wares, with market stalls offering everything from fashion accessories to educational toys.

Festival-goers can also enjoy unique performances, including a lively belly dance show by the Ace of Cups Dance Troupe. Whether you’re there to shop, eat, or simply soak in the festive atmosphere, Mayfield Day 2024 promises to be a memorable day out.

Louise, Director of Hunter Events Group, added: “This event really brings the community together in such a positive way. It’s wonderful to see more and more families coming out to enjoy the fun each year.”

With free entry and an array of activities to explore, Mayfield Day offers a great opportunity to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of this dynamic suburb.
