newy.com.au – Port Stephens Council will stage a 9pm New Year’s Eve fireworks display on the Nelson Bay foreshore on Wednesday 31 December 2025, with d’Albora as the new naming rights sponsor.

The council expects thousands of locals and visitors to attend the alcohol-free, family-friendly event, which has become a regular holiday period drawcard for the region.

Port Stephens Mayor Leah Anderson said New Year’s Eve at Nelson Bay remained a highlight for residents and holidaymakers. “It’s always a great atmosphere down at the foreshore – families with picnics, visitors exploring the marina, and people of all ages enjoying the music and the fireworks,” Anderson said.

She said sponsorship was essential to keeping the event running. “Without major sponsorship, this event would not be possible, and we’re excited to be working with d’Albora to bring the NYE fireworks to Nelson Bay this year,” Anderson said.

Entertainment will begin mid-afternoon, with live music from 3pm to 6pm featuring Jake Folbigg, followed by DJ BIGGS from 6pm to 9pm before the fireworks display. The marina precinct is also promoting dining options including restaurants, cafés, bars and the marina ice creamery, along with kids’ activities and special offers at Zoneout Games and retailers selling New Year’s Eve glow sticks and novelty items.

d’Albora managing director Julien Pouteau said New Year’s Eve events helped bring the community and local trade together. “Our focus is to create a welcoming destination that highlights d’Albora Marina Nelson Bay’s vibrant mix of lifestyle offerings across, berthing, dining, retail and community activity on the waterfront”, Pouteau said.

Council urged people to arrive early, plan for temporary road closures and consider booking ahead if dining at the marina before the fireworks. Victoria Parade, Laman Street, Government Road and Yacaaba Street are scheduled to close from about 8pm to 9.45pm, as well as Shoal Bay Road between Magnus Street and Victoria Parade.

Closure times may change on the night, as directed by NSW Police in consultation with council, with further details available through Port Stephens Council.
