newy.com.au – Police are investigating an alleged break and enter at a sports centre on Stockland Drive, Glendale.

The incident has raised concerns about potential disruption to school holiday programs and training at the Hunter Sports Centre site, with council staff assessing damage and the impact on upcoming schedules.

Police were contacted about 9.35am on Saturday and were told the break-in occurred about 9.15pm on Friday 12 December 2025. Following a scene examination, officers identified damage to the premises, including damage to trampolines and data cabling.

Investigators said they were hoping to speak with a group of young people seen in the area at the time, who may be able to assist with the investigation. Inquiries are continuing.

Lake Macquarie City Council said Hunter Sports Centre was working with NSW Police following the alleged break-in, with damage reported to the main office and a range of training equipment in the NSW Trampoline Centre of Excellence. It said an assessment over the weekend would determine whether any school holiday programs or training schedules were affected.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz said, “This kind of thing is exactly what we don’t need in our community, especially right before the school holidays and Christmas.”

Hunter Sports Centre’s website describes the NSW Trampoline Centre of Excellence as “the only dedicated, international-standard trampoline facility in Australia”, featuring a 1300 sq m arena with 10 trampolines, two tumbling strips, a foam pit and seating for 400 spectators.

The centre forms part of the Hunter Sports Centre Kaiyu Nungkiliko redevelopment, which was reported as officially opened in March 2025 as part of a $52 million expansion that added a sport and community centre, health and fitness facilities, offices and a cafe, alongside the trampoline hall.

Anyone with information about the incident has been urged to contact Toronto Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
