newy.com.au – Motorists using the M1 Pacific Motorway and major connecting roads around Beresfield, Black Hill, Tarro, Tomago and Heatherbrae have been warned to expect changed traffic conditions next week as construction continues on the M1 extension to Raymond Terrace.
Transport for NSW says southbound traffic on the M1 will be diverted onto the northbound carriageway in a contraflow arrangement at the John Renshaw Drive and Weakleys Drive intersection on the nights of Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29.
The diversion will operate between 7pm and 5am while asphalt work is carried out. During that period, drivers travelling south on the M1 will not be able to access Lenaghans Drive from the southbound lanes.
Major construction work will also continue across the Black Hill to Tomago project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 5pm on Saturday, with further out-of-hours work between 7pm and 5am on weeknights.
From Monday, May 25 to Friday, May 29, overnight lane closures, contraflow arrangements, intermittent stoppages and temporary 40km/h speed limits will be in place on sections of the M1 at Beresfield and Black Hill, John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield, the New England Highway at Tarro, and the Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae.
Daytime impacts are also expected between 8am and 5pm from Monday to Friday on Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill, Old Punt Road near the Pacific Highway at Tomago, and the eastbound lanes of the New England Highway at Tarro.
Motorists have been advised to allow extra travel time and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers. Transport for NSW thanked drivers for their patience during the work.
Operators of oversize or over-mass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres, or an overall width wider than 4.5 metres, have been asked to contact the project team on 1800 094 895 at least one day before travelling. Transport for NSW says significant delays can occur if contact is not made before travel, and vehicles operating under a permit must not leave the approved route unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
Further information is available through Live Traffic NSW, including the Live Traffic app, where users can search for “Black Hill” or “Tomago”, select the incident and follow it for updates.
