A volunteer crew from Marine Rescue Lemon Tree Passage successfully assisted five people whose boat became stranded in the shallow waters of the Karuah River yesterday morning.

Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Steve Raymond said the call for help arrived at around 11.20am on Saturday, 25 January, prompting the deployment of Lemon Tree 30 under the direction of NSW Police Marine Area Command.

“The crew searched the river for the grounded vessel and located it just after 11.45am,” Inspector Raymond reported. “The five people on board had safely made it to a nearby beach. After consulting with Water Police, it was determined the vessel could not be safely uprighted. Our volunteers then transferred the group to a secure location at Karuah.”

NSW Maritime was notified of the vessel’s position for further assessment. Marine Rescue NSW, a volunteer-based not-for-profit professional organisation, continues to remind all boaters to stay vigilant and seek help at the first sign of trouble on the water.
