Motorists travelling on the New England Highway near Tarro will face changed traffic conditions starting next week as construction for the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace continues.
To reduce daytime disruption, night work will occur, requiring the closure of key roads from 7pm to 5am across multiple nights, with detours in place.
- Eastbound Off Ramp Closure: On Monday, 14 October and Tuesday, 15 October, the eastbound off ramp from the New England Highway to Anderson Drive will be closed. Drivers will be diverted via the New England Highway and Maitland Road during these hours.
- John Renshaw Drive Slip Lane: The westbound slip lane from the New England Highway onto John Renshaw Drive will close for one night on Wednesday, 16 October, with traffic detouring via Weakleys Drive to John Renshaw Drive and the M1. This route will not accommodate vehicles on the SPV Level 6, SPV Level 4, or those exceeding axle and SPV limits.
Operators of oversized and special-purpose vehicles wider than 3.2 metres should arrange an escort through closures by contacting the project team at least 24 hours in advance on 0423 323 946.
Roadwork Schedule:
Work will continue from 7am to 6pm weekdays and 8am to 5pm Saturdays, with additional night works scheduled from 7pm to 5am. Temporary lane closures, intermittent stoppages, and speed limits of 40km/h will affect the following areas during the week of 14 October to 18 October:
- M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
- John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
- New England Highway at Tarro
- Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae
- Old Punt Road near the Pacific Highway at Tomago
Daytime roadworks between 7am and 5pm will also occur on Lenaghans Drive, Black Hill, and Old Punt Road near the Pacific Highway at Tomago.
