Raptor Squad’s Strike Force Beckenbeeni Delivers Major Blow to Meth and Firearm Supply

today12 September 2024

Background

The NSW Police Raptor Squad, under Strike Force Beckenbeeni, has made significant inroads into dismantling the drug and firearm operations of the Lone Wolf Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) on the Central Coast. The arrest of ten men, following extensive investigations, marks a crucial step in curbing the devastation caused by prohibited drugs like methylamphetamine in the region.

The state’s methamphetamine, or ‘ice’, supply has been wreaking havoc on communities across New South Wales, particularly in Newcastle, where the drug has fueled a surge in violent crime, addiction, and family breakdowns. Local authorities have been grappling with the social and economic fallout, as meth use continues to devastate vulnerable populations, strain healthcare services, and overwhelm law enforcement efforts.

Formed in February 2023 to target the organised crime activities of the Lone Wolf OMCG, Strike Force Beckenbeeni, along with officers from Parramatta Police Area Command and Tuggerah Lakes and Brisbane Water Police Districts, executed nine search warrants on 11 September 2024. The raids spanned Gosford, Terrigal, Wyoming, Springfield, and Parramatta, leading to the arrest of key individuals linked to the criminal syndicate.

During the operations, police seized eight firearms, including a machine gun and a shotgun, along with knives, $40,000 in cash, over 300 grams of cocaine, and more than 300 grams of methylamphetamine. Significant quantities of steroids and cannabis oil were also discovered.

Among those arrested were men ranging from 18 to 47 years of age, all facing serious charges, including large-scale drug supply, illegal firearm sales, and dealing with proceeds of crime. The men, all associates of the Lone Wolf OMCG, are set to appear in Gosford Local Court today, with police alleging they were deeply involved in the supply of drugs and weapons across the Central Coast.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Koutsoufis, Commander of Raptor Squad, described the arrests as a potentially fatal blow to OMCG activity in the area. “These arrests have cut off the supply of guns, drugs, and money to the Lone Wolf OMCG, which could result in the collapse of their operations on the Central Coast,” he said.

The police have vowed to continue monitoring the region and are ready to prevent any other gangs from stepping into the void left by the Lone Wolf’s downfall.

The investigation under Strike Force Beckenbeeni remains ongoing.
