Redhead Residents Urged to Report Crime to Police

today9 September 2024

Background

Lake Macquarie Police District is reminding residents of Redhead to report any criminal or antisocial behaviour to authorities, following a rise in unreported incidents in the area. Over recent weeks, social media has been flooded with anecdotal reports of thefts, malicious damage, and street offences, yet many of these incidents have not been formally reported to the police, making it difficult to prevent and respond effectively.

Local police are urging residents to use the Police Assistance Line (PAL) for non-urgent matters at 131 444 or report via the NSW Police Community Portal. For incidents requiring immediate police attendance, residents should contact Belmont Police Station on 4922 8899, or dial Triple Zero (000) for emergencies.

In addition, anonymous reports can be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via their online reporting page. By reporting these incidents, residents play a crucial role in helping the police maintain public safety and disrupt criminal activity in the community.

The call to action comes amidst concerns over rising street-level offences and a lack of official data due to under-reporting, which is hindering police efforts to address the issues effectively.
