newy.com.au – Two men have been charged and refused bail after a 23-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in a Muswellbrook street early on Friday.
The men, aged 19 and 40, each face a domestic violence-related charge of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The younger man also faces a charge of having his face blackened or disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence, while the older man faces two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.
Emergency services were called to Sydney Street about 2.25am on 11 September after reports of a stabbing. Hunter Valley police were told the 23-year-old had allegedly been stabbed during an assault by two men, who police allege ran from the scene before officers arrived.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before taking him to hospital in a stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and began investigating. About midday the same day, investigators arrested the two men at a home in Muswellbrook, with assistance from the Hunter Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team and North Region Operation Support Group.
Police said they seized knives, cannabis and items believed to be linked to the incident while executing a crime scene warrant at the home. Both men were taken to Muswellbrook Police Station and charged.
The pair were initially refused bail by police and appeared before Bail Division Court 2 on Saturday, 12 September, where they were again refused bail. Their next court appearance is scheduled for 11 November.
