At approximately 5:29 am this morning, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 344 Kearsley responded to a house fire on Greta Street in Cessnock. Upon arrival, crews found the house engulfed in flames, with no immediate confirmation on whether anyone was inside.

Firefighters swiftly began defensive operations to contain the blaze and protect neighbouring properties. Once the fire was under control, crews conducted a thorough search of the house, confirming that it was vacant, with no occupants inside.

The team worked efficiently to fully extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of surrounding homes. Fire and Rescue NSW expressed their appreciation to the NSW Police for managing road closures and traffic control, as well as to Ambulance NSW for being on standby for the firefighters.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are expected to follow.
