A broad spectrum of community initiatives across Maitland has received a significant boost, with nearly $70,000 awarded through the Maitland City Council’s revamped Community Grants Program. During last night’s council meeting, 23 grant applications were successfully endorsed by the councillors.

Relaunched earlier this year, the Bi-Annual Community Grants Program is aimed at empowering local organisations, groups, and individuals to deliver projects that enhance the social, cultural, and recreational fabric of Maitland.

Darren Crumpler, Maitland City Council Manager of Community and Recreation, expressed his enthusiasm for the program’s success: ‘The response to our Community Grants Program has been outstanding, highlighting the variety of projects focused on strengthening our community.’

The chosen projects were selected based on their alignment with the Council’s strategic goals, the positive impact they are expected to have, and their potential to foster greater community engagement and participation.

The grants will fund a diverse range of initiatives, including community celebrations, child development programs, food relief services, and upgrades to essential equipment.

The second round of the Community Grants Program is scheduled to open on 1 October 2024, providing further opportunities for local groups to obtain funding for their initiatives.
