The main stage will host performances by local artists and groups, while interactive craft activities, rides, and food stalls ensure there’s something for everyone. 18 August 2024: Science Festival – Newcastle Museum Celebrates Two Million Visitors

18 August 2024: Bathers Way Precinct Reopens with a Community Celebration

The renewed Bathers Way precinct at South Newcastle Beach is ready to welcome visitors with a free community event this Sunday. The event will feature skateboarding, roller skating, and BMX bike demonstrations in the newly built skate bowl, including a dedicated session for wheelchair users. The inclusive aspects of the precinct are highlighted by the Hunter’s first wheelchair-accessible skate bowl.

Pop-up stalls, bike check-ups, a community barbecue, face painting, and music will add to the festivities, providing a vibrant atmosphere for families. The upgrade includes a shared pathway, new seating, shade, viewing areas, and exercise equipment, transforming the area into a hub of community activity.
