newy.com.au – An elderly woman was freed after being trapped in a single vehicle crash on Nelson Bay Road at Salt Ash on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened at 2.50pm. The woman suffered limb injuries and was being taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment following her rescue.
Initial callers raised concerns about rising floodwater around the vehicle, but the rain later stopped and water was no longer a concern. Ausgrid was also called to the scene to ensure the area was safe amid concerns about nearby powerlines.
One of the road’s two northbound lanes was closed for several hours. Drivers were advised to expect delays and allow extra travel time while the closure was in place. The site was later cleared.
