newy.com.au – A motorbike rider has been charged with 10 offences following a multi-vehicle crash at Adamstown Heights that left him critically injured and his teenage passenger in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of City and Brunker roads about 5.35pm on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, after an unregistered motorbike and five other vehicles collided.
The motorbike rider, who was 17 at the time, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition. His pillion passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was treated at the scene and taken to the same hospital in a stable condition.
Both boys have since been discharged. The five other drivers were not injured but were taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Newcastle City Police District officers established a crime scene, with the Crash Investigation Unit launching an investigation into the collision.
Following extensive inquiries, police spoke to the rider, now aged 18, on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, and served him with a court attendance notice.
He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving not occasioning death or grievous bodily harm, and causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle.
The other charges were driving recklessly, furiously or at a speed or in a manner dangerous; driving while never licensed; using an unregistered Class A motor vehicle on a road; using an uninsured motor vehicle on a road; riding without a helmet with a passenger who was also not wearing a helmet; and failing to stop at a red light.
He is due to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
