newy.com.au – A 39-year-old man has been charged with 42 offences after Hunter Valley police investigated allegations that a woman known to him had been physically and sexually assaulted.

Officers began investigating on Saturday after receiving information that the 29-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted by the man since December 2025.

Police also allege the man shot the woman about 10 times with a gel blaster rifle in June 2025, causing significant bruising to her legs, arms and body. A further assault allegedly occurred on Wednesday, 22 July.

Following inquiries, officers arrested the man at a home on Olney Street, Ellalong, about 2.45pm on Sunday.

Police searched the property and allegedly seized multiple child-like sex dolls, cannabis and prohibited weapons, including firearms, crossbows, a sword, a knife and whips.

The man was taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with three counts of stalking or intimidation, two counts of common assault, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure a person or damage property. The assault-related charges were designated as domestic violence offences.

He was also charged with five counts of possessing a child-like sex doll or other object, 20 counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit, three counts of possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, and one count each of possessing an unauthorised pistol and possessing ammunition without a licence, permit or authority.

The remaining charges were three counts of possessing a prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and was due to appear before Bail Division Court 2 on Monday.
