newy.com.au – Three teenage boys have been charged over alleged break-ins at unit complexes in Tarro after a police investigation into property offences in the Hunter Region late last month.
Police said officers began investigating on Sunday 30 November 2025 following reports of break and enters at unit complexes in the Tarro area, leading to the recovery of a stolen car and the arrest of three boys aged 15 and 16.
According to police, a group allegedly entered a unit complex on Quarter Session Road, Tarro, about 11pm on Saturday 29 November 2025. A wallet and an electronic device were allegedly stolen during the incident.
A short time later, another unit complex on the same street was allegedly broken into. Police said a handbag and a Suzuki sedan were taken from that property.
Officers later located the Suzuki abandoned on Kingstown Road, Woodberry, about 5.30am on Sunday 30 November 2025. Police established multiple crime scenes and the vehicle was seized for forensic examination as part of the ongoing inquiry.
About 1.30pm on Monday 1 December 2025, officers arrested three boys, one aged 16 and two aged 15 on Lawson Avenue, Beresfield. They were taken to Maitland Police Station where they were formally charged.
Police said the 16-year-old was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, and one count of being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of the owner.
He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 2 December 2025, where he was granted conditional bail. He is due to return to a children’s court on Thursday 15 January 2026.
One of the 15-year-old boys was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, take and drive conveyance without consent of the owner, and shoplifting.
Police said he was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 2 December 2025, where he was formally refused bail. He is scheduled to reappear before the same court on Tuesday 9 December 2025.
The third boy, also aged 15, was charged with a larger number of offences, including four counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling in company with intent to steal, three counts of failing to appear in accordance with a bail acknowledgment, and two counts of breaching bail.
He also faces charges of police pursuit, not stop, drive recklessly, drive recklessly or in a dangerous manner, take and drive conveyance without consent of the owner, Class A motor vehicle exceed speed by more than 45km/h, three counts of larceny, dishonestly obtain property by deception, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, and destroy or damage property.
Police said he was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Tuesday 2 December 2025, where he was granted conditional bail. He is due to appear again at a children’s court on Thursday 11 December 2025.
