Lake Macquarie is gearing up for an action-packed March as the Lake Mac Festival brings together some of Australia’s biggest music acts, thrilling sporting events, and world-class cultural performances.

This Saturday, 8 March 2025, Speers Point Park will come alive with the Lookout Festival, organised by Face to Face Touring. Music lovers can expect an electrifying lineup featuring JET, Grinspoon, The Veronicas, Spiderbait, Jebediah, Magic Dirt, and Youth Group, a powerhouse collection of Aussie rock legends.

Lake Macquarie City Council’s Manager of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Jacqui Hemsley, said the event is a highlight of the first-ever four-month Lake Mac Festival, running from January to April, designed to entertain both locals and visitors.

The festival continues with a fusion of Persian and contemporary jazz when the internationally acclaimed Eishan Ensemble takes the stage at Rathmines Theatre on Sunday, 23 March. Later in the month, on Saturday, 29 March, First Nations Papua New Guinean artist Ngaiire will bring her distinctive sound and powerful vocals to Warners Bay Theatre baramayiba.

Adding to the festival’s diverse offerings, Unfurl, a celebration of LGBTQIA+ art, culture, and community, will take place at the Multi-Arts Pavilion (MAP) mima.

For adrenaline seekers, the Lake Mac Triathlon, Australia’s newest multi-sport festival, will be held from Friday, 14 March to Sunday, 16 March. Competitors will take on a fast and flat cycle and run course, with the swim staged against the picturesque backdrop of Speers Point Park.

Mountain biking enthusiasts won’t miss out either, with The Black Pearl kicking off the 2025 Quad Crown series from Friday, 7 March to Sunday, 9 March. Glenrock’s iconic trails will set the scene for a Friday prelude time trial, while Sunday’s stage will see riders tackle a challenging 10km loop.

With a diverse lineup of music, arts, culture, and sport, the Lake Mac Festival is set to be one of the biggest events of the year. For a full list of events, visit lakemac.com.au.

(Note: Many events as part of the festival are independently organised and not run by Lake Macquarie City Council.)
