Man Charged Over Nazi Graffiti at Hamilton Chemist

newy.com.au – A man has been charged after allegedly defacing a chemist in Hamilton with offensive graffiti early this morning.

At around 7:30am on Sunday, 12 January 2025, the 47-year-old man reportedly approached a chemist on Beaumont Street and painted an offensive symbol on the side wall of the premises. Newcastle City Police District officers were alerted and promptly established a crime scene at the location.

Following inquiries, police arrested the man nearby at approximately 10am. He was taken to Newcastle Police Station, where he was charged with intentionally marking premises without prescribed consent and knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol in a public act without lawful excuse.

The accused was refused bail and is set to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Monday, 13 January 2025.
