A 43-year-old man will face court today in Raymond Terrace after being arrested in connection with a string of break-ins and thefts across Port Stephens, following an extensive investigation by local police.
Police from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District arrested the man on Wednesday, 23 October, after tracking him down to a home on Rosetta Way, Raymond Terrace. When officers arrived at around 10:30am, the man allegedly attempted to flee the scene by scaling a back fence.
A foot pursuit ensued, and the man was eventually apprehended on the Pacific Highway. During the arrest, officers used OC spray to subdue him after he allegedly resisted. He was taken into custody and transported to Raymond Terrace Police Station.
The man is facing 17 charges, which include multiple counts of break and enter, larceny, and fraud-related offences. Police allege that the offences took place between May and October this year.
After being refused bail, the accused spent the night in custody and is scheduled to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court today, Thursday, 24 October 2024.
