
newy.com.au – A man has died in hospital after he was stabbed at Hamilton South on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Hassall Street about 3.30pm following reports of a stabbing. Newcastle City Police District officers found a man, believed to be aged in his 40s, suffering from a stab wound.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition. Police were notified shortly afterwards that he had died.
A crime scene was established in Hassall Street and is undergoing forensic examination by specialist officers.
Newcastle detectives have begun an investigation with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
