newy.com.au – Two 18-year-old men have been charged after an alleged stabbing in a Newcastle West carpark early on Sunday 11 January 2026.
Emergency services were called to a carpark on Parry Street about 3.20am, where officers found the man with a stab wound to his neck and head. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition where he remains.
Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and began investigating.
About 11.25am on Tuesday 13 January 2026, Newcastle detectives and the Northern Operations Support Group attended a home in Rutherford and carried out a search. Two men, both aged 18, were arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station.
One of the men was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), and affray. The second man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s), and affray.
Both were refused bail and are due to appear before Bail Division Court 2 on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
Inquiries into the incident were continuing.
