A 55-year-old woman has tragically died yesterday following a serious crash earlier this month in Fullerton Cove, located just North of Stockton.
The incident occurred just after 4:20 pm on Friday, 4 October 2024, when emergency services responded to reports of a motorcycle crash along Nelson Bay Road. The female rider had reportedly been ejected from her bike.
NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the woman for severe head injuries. She was rushed to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition.
Investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit were called in, and a crime scene was established to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Initial inquiries revealed that a utility vehicle had been travelling in front of the motorcycle at the time of the accident.
Later, officers attended the home of a 55-year-old man in Chisholm, believed to be the driver of the ute. The man was taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory testing.
Sadly, police confirmed that the woman passed away in hospital on Friday, 18 October 2024.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner to determine the full details of the case. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
This tragic loss has sparked further reminders about road safety in the region, as both drivers and riders are asked to remain vigilant, particularly in high-traffic areas like Nelson Bay Road.
