
Emergency services rushed to Nelson Bay Road, Fullerton Cove, after a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a white Toyota utility just after 4:20pm on Friday, 4 October 2024.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were informed that the utility allegedly left the scene following the collision, leaving a 55-year-old woman critically injured. The rider was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head injuries and was later transported to John Hunter Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
A crime scene was established, and investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As part of their investigation, police later attended a residence in Chisholm, where they spoke to a 55-year-old man believed to be involved in the crash. The man was taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory testing, and both the motorcycle and utility were seized for forensic examination.
