newy.com.au – The Hunter Region Business Hub says a new sponsorship partnership with The Mutual Bank will help it expand mentoring, workshops and networking support for small businesses across the Hunter.
The support is intended to reach more entrepreneurs and established businesses across Newcastle, Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, Dungog, Singleton, Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter. It will also support the Hub’s advocacy work and provide opportunities to develop financial wellbeing and small business initiatives around local needs.
Established in 1992, the community based, not for profit Hub operates from 79 Barton Street, Kurri Kurri. Alongside its business advice and education services, it offers 33 office and light industrial units as affordable premises for local enterprises.
The Hub says more than 25,000 people visit the site each year and another 17 businesses are waiting for space.
Acting chair Shane Meister said the partnership’s benefits would extend beyond the businesses receiving direct support.
“When a local business gets the right advice and support, the whole region benefits through more jobs, stronger businesses and stronger communities,” Mr Meister said.
“The Mutual Bank’s support will help us reach more businesses with practical advice, mentoring, connections and advocacy when they need it.”
General manager Alena Pople said the sponsorship would increase the Hub’s capacity to improve services and create opportunities for its members, building on almost 35 years of support for the region’s business community.
The sponsorship announcement follows The Mutual Bank’s opening of a new branch at 93 Vincent Street, Cessnock, extending its physical presence in the Hunter.
