A draft five year plan to improve Throsby Creek’s health, amenity and safety is open for community feedback, ahead of a consultation session at Islington Park on Saturday 10 October.

The draft Throsby Creek Catchment Agencies Plan for 2027-2031 builds on three previous management plans for the waterway, which is used by boaters, fishers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Newcastle MP Tim Crakanthorp will host Saturday’s session near Hubbard Street from 10am to noon. Representatives from City of Newcastle and Hunter Water will attend so residents can ask questions about the plan and offer feedback in person. All community members are welcome.

Mr Crakanthorp chairs the Throsby Creek Government Agencies Committee, which is seeking public input on the draft. The committee brings together government agencies, councils and community representatives to support cooperation on the management of lower Throsby Creek.

The draft is intended to guide short, medium and long term improvements to the creek. Its public exhibition gives residents and other stakeholders an opportunity to suggest priorities before the plan is finalised.

Community members can read the draft plan and submit feedback through Hunter Water’s website.
