Five comedians from Newcastle and the Central Coast will perform extended sets at a one-off show at Newcastle Comedy Club in Islington on Wednesday 21 October.

The Wednesday Comedy Lineup will give the performers twice the stage time they are usually allocated, offering audiences a longer look at their material.

“We wanted to see what interesting sets these comedians could create with twice the stage time they’re normally limited to,” one of the organisers said.

The bill features experienced comedian Fiona Cox, 2026 RAW Comedy state finalist Steve Dowse and Huw Rogers, a 2025 Comedy Writers Group Comedian of the Year nominee. Emerging comedians Michael O’Connor and Elih Jackson round out the lineup.

Their material spans everyday frustrations, dating, parenting and the unexpected turns of working life.

Cox brings deadpan observations and cheeky humour about daily life, while Dowse draws on his experiences of dating. Rogers finds playful humour in the everyday absurdities of living with blindness.

O’Connor’s comedy explores parenting and household chaos, while Jackson brings a working-class perspective informed by his work as a wildlife researcher.

Organisers say Newcastle’s growing comedy scene is attracting performers from across Australia, making places on local lineups increasingly competitive.

“With stage time harder to come by, we’ll bring our A-game to this show,” Rogers said.

Wednesday Comedy Lineup is listed to run from 8pm to 9pm at Newcastle Comedy Club, 139 Maitland Road, Islington.

Tickets are $30 and are available through https://events.humanitix.com/wednesday-comedy-lineup-newcastle-comedy-club.
