newy.com.au – A man in his 20s has died and two other men have been taken to hospital after all three were pulled from the water at Stockton Beach on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called just before 4pm on Sunday 20 September 2026 following reports a group of people were in trouble in the water. Members of the public helped pull the three men, all aged in their 20s, from the water.
One man was unresponsive and bystanders began CPR before emergency services arrived. Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated all three men, but the unresponsive man could not be revived.
The other two men were taken to John Hunter Hospital as a precaution, police said.
Police have begun an investigation into the incident and will prepare a report for the coroner.
