newy.com.au – A 37-year-old man has been refused bail on six charges, including carrying out a sexual act without consent, following an investigation into alleged indecent exposure in Cessnock.
Police arrested the man on Cumberland Street on Saturday, 19 September, and took him to Cessnock Police Station. He is due to appear at Local Bail Division Court 2 on Sunday, 20 September.
The investigation began after Hunter Valley Police District officers were called to a hall on Cumberland Street just before 7.40pm on Wednesday, 16 September, following reports of inappropriate behaviour.
Police received multiple reports the following day of a man allegedly taking items from a supermarket on Keene Street, Cessnock. They allege the man exposed himself inside the supermarket and outside in the nearby area during those incidents.
The man was charged with three counts of larceny involving property valued at $2000 or less, two counts of behaving in an offensive manner in or near a public place or school, and one count of carrying out a sexual act with another person without consent.
