newy.com.au – A new gym has officially opened at Maitland Police Station, giving officers and staff access to exercise equipment at their workplace.
Port Stephens-Hunter Police District marked the opening with a ribbon-cutting and barbecue, thanking Maitland officer-in-charge Inspector Paul Doherty for keeping those attending fed.
The occasion also recognised staff member Katie Harrison, who was named the recipient of the district’s monthly “Protect. Serve. Honour” Award. Ms Harrison was nominated by her peers and selected by the district’s senior leadership team.
The district credited her positive attitude, reliability and support for colleagues with helping team morale and its day-to-day work.
“Often working behind the scenes, Katie consistently goes above and beyond to ensure police officers and colleagues have the resources, information and support they need to perform their duties effectively,” the district said.
