A warm and windy Saturday is forecast across Newcastle and the Hunter, with temperatures reaching 31° across much of the region.
The day will begin sunny, with north westerly winds strengthening during the morning to 35–50km/h. The strongest winds are expected during the afternoon before easing and turning westerly late in the evening.
Rain is unlikely during the day, with 0mm forecast, although there is a slight chance of a shower during the late evening.
The NSW Rural Fire Service is forecasting a High fire danger rating for the Greater Hunter. A Strong Wind Warning has also been issued for Hunter coastal waters, with winds reaching 30 knots inshore and seas building to between one and two metres.
The warm conditions are being driven by north westerly winds ahead of a cold front expected to cross late Saturday. Sunday will be cooler but sunny, with a top of about 23° in Newcastle.
