newy.com.au – A woman and a man have been charged over an alleged kidnapping and baseball bat attack at Raymond Terrace that left a 44-year-old man needing hospital treatment.
Police were called to Boomerang Park shortly after 8.30pm on Sunday, August 2, following reports of an assault.
Police allege a 52-year-old woman struck a man with a baseball bat after finding him on her property in a nearby street. The woman and a 56-year-old man then allegedly detained him and forced him to walk to the park.
The woman allegedly assaulted two other men at the park and struck a vehicle with the bat, shattering its windscreen.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 44-year-old man for facial injuries, bruising and swelling before taking him to Maitland Hospital.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District began investigating and arrested the woman at Raymond Terrace Police Station about 5.25pm the following day.
She was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company, kidnapping with intent to commit a serious indictable offence occasioning actual bodily harm, and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The woman was refused bail and is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court on September 30.
The 56-year-old man was arrested at Raymond Terrace Police Station about 9.15am on Thursday. He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company and the same kidnapping offence.
He was granted strict conditional bail and is also due to appear in Newcastle Local Court on September 30.
