newy.com.au – A 37-year-old man will face court today on domestic violence, firearm and weapons charges after police allegedly found a rifle-style gel blaster and two Tasers at a Mount Hutton residence.
Lake Macquarie Police District officers attended the home shortly before 4pm on Tuesday, 4 August, following a domestic violence incident. During inquiries at the scene, police allege they found the gel blaster, a magazine, two Tasers and Taser cartridges in a garage.
The man, who is subject to enforceable Firearms Prohibition and Weapons Prohibition orders, was arrested a short time later at an address in Floraville.
He was charged with intentionally choking a person without consent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, destroying or damaging property and stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear of physical harm. Each of those charges is domestic violence-related.
He was also charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm, acquiring a firearm while subject to a prohibition order, and possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.
The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Court on Wednesday, 5 August.
