newy.com.au – Detectives are appealing for information after five registered firearms, power tools and an orange Holden Colorado were stolen from a Cooranbong home before an SUV was set alight nearby.
Unknown people forced their way into the Babers Road property between 10pm on Tuesday, 23 June and 2.30am on Wednesday, 24 June.
Emergency services were called to another home on the same road about 4am after reports of a vehicle fire. Police said two people approached the parked SUV before it burst into flames and was destroyed.
Lake Macquarie detectives established crime scenes at both properties and are investigating the incidents. CCTV from the area showed a small white sedan and a white Ford Ranger travelling along Babers Road before and after the offences, while three people were also recorded near the homes.
Police want to speak with anyone who can identify the people or vehicles seen in the area at the time. Witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage recorded on Babers Road between 10pm on Tuesday, 23 June and 4am the following day are urged to call Lake Macquarie detectives on 02 4922 8899.
