newy.com.au – Police are appealing for information after two men allegedly tried to steal a vehicle at knifepoint before threatening a teenager in Maitland early on Sunday.
A 30-year-old man was sitting in his parked vehicle on High Street about 12.15am on 12 July when the pair approached and threatened him with knives.
The men assaulted the 30-year-old while attempting to steal the vehicle, then fled along St Andrews Street. Despite the assault, the man was not injured.
A short time later, the same two men approached an 18-year-old man walking along Belmore Bridge and threatened him. The teenager was also uninjured.
Officers from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District are investigating the attempted armed robberies and have asked anyone with information to come forward.
Police are also seeking CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage that may have captured the men or the incidents.
