Emergency services were kept busy, responding to two incidents in the Lake Macquarie area, first to a motor vehicle accident (MVA) in Eraring, followed by a small bushfire near Awaba.

Dora Creek Rural Fire Brigade was called to the intersection of Wangi Road and Rocky Point Road, Eraring, after reports of a crash involving a silver dual-cab utility. The vehicle had flipped onto its side, but fortunately, the male driver was able to be extracted from the wreckage. He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The scene required a significant cleanup, and while most of the work was completed promptly, heavy traffic continued in the area as emergency services remained on-site. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution and slow down when passing emergency personnel attending incidents on the road.

Shortly after clearing the crash scene, Dora Creek crews responded to a small bushfire behind the Clay Target Club at Awaba. The fire was quickly extinguished, preventing any significant spread.

The brigade took to social media to remind the public about the importance of road safety and showing respect to emergency responders working in hazardous conditions. The cause of both the crash and the bushfire are under investigation.

Local authorities urge drivers to stay vigilant on the roads and to be mindful of fire risks as dry conditions persist.
