newy.com.au – A 42-year-old man has been refused bail on drug supply and proceeds of crime charges after police allegedly seized 144 grams of methylamphetamine from an industrial facility at Mayfield East.

The investigation began with a vehicle stop on Wallace Street, Waratah, about midday on Friday 2 October 2026. Newcastle City Police District investigators were conducting patrols targeting drug supply when they stopped the vehicle and seized $12,000 in cash during a search. The driver was released pending further investigation.

Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at an industrial facility on George Street, Mayfield East, about 5pm on Thursday 5 November. Police allege the methylamphetamine was seized during that search.

Officers then attended a unit complex on Fowler Street, Hamilton South, where they arrested the 42-year-old man and took him to Newcastle Police Station.

He was charged with dealing with proceeds of crime worth $10,000 or more and supplying a prohibited drug in an amount above the indictable threshold but below the commercial threshold.

The man appeared before Bail Division Court 2 on Friday 6 November and was formally refused bail. He is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Monday 23 November.
