newy.com.au – A 39 year old man has been charged and refused bail over an alleged sexual act in a Cessnock shopping centre toilet while a 10 year old boy was present.
Police said they were told the boy entered a male bathroom at a shopping centre on Keene Street about 1pm on Saturday, 31 October 2026. A man allegedly performed a sexual act on himself before the child left the bathroom.
Hunter Valley Police District officers began investigating on Monday, 2 November, after receiving a report of the alleged incident.
The 39 year old man was arrested at a home at Rutherford, about 11am on Wednesday, 4 November. He was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with carrying out a sexual act with another without consent and breach of bail.
Police said he was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 2 on Thursday, 5 November.
