newy.com.au – A $2.1 million upgrade of Lake Road at Swansea is complete, while work continues on a separate $6 million rehabilitation of Floraville Road at Belmont North, Lake Macquarie City Council says.
The Lake Road project covered the stretch between The Esplanade and Macquarie Street. Work included rebuilding and widening the road, improving drainage at selected locations and upgrading intersections.
At Belmont North, the first two stages of the Floraville Road project, between Park Street and Maxwell Avenue, have been completed. The full project extends from Park Street to the Pacific Highway and includes road reconstruction, drainage upgrades, new footpaths and improvements to bus stops.
Mayor Adam Shultz said the Floraville Road work was being delivered in five stages to minimise disruption. Council said the overall project remained on track for completion in the first quarter of 2027-28, weather permitting.
The Australian Government has contributed $2.7 million to the Floraville Road project through its Roads to Recovery program, with council funding the remaining $3.3 million.
Council has allocated $29 million for road renewal and improvements across Lake Macquarie in 2026-27. Its broader program also includes rehabilitation of Deaves Road at Mandalong, which council says is intended to improve flood resilience and the road’s long term reliability.
Residents can follow construction updates and find information about the works on council’s projects page.
