newy.com.au – Motorists face night closures on Cormorant Road at Kooragang and Tomago Road during a week of roadworks affecting major routes across the Hunter and Central Coast from Monday 26 October to Sunday 1 November 2026.

Transport for NSW warned of possible delays, particularly where multiple jobs are taking place along the same routes. The schedule is subject to weather and other conditions, and several sites will also affect oversize or overmass vehicles.

At Kooragang, Cormorant Road will close for night work, with detours in place. Overnight resurfacing on Teal Street will require a lane closure, while night work on Industrial Drive at Mayfield North will bring right turn restrictions and detours.

Tomago Road will close for night work associated with the M1 to Raymond Terrace upgrade, where landscaping and finishing activities are continuing. Separately, Old Punt Road is closed to northbound traffic between Kennington Drive and the Pacific Highway, with a detour in place.

Lane reductions are planned on Maitland Road and the New England Highway at Hexham. In Maitland, night work is scheduled on the New England Highway at High Street. Ground investigations and surveying are also planned on the New England Highway at Cessnock Road.

At Raymond Terrace, traffic signals will be switched off at times during night safety improvement work at the Adelaide Street and Glenelg Street intersection.

Newcastle West will have overnight traffic changes on Parry Street and Stewart Avenue for red light speed camera removal and relocation.

Further west, night asphalt work at Jesmond for the Rankin Park to Jesmond project will involve detours. On Lake Road at Wallsend, stop/slow traffic control will operate during night asphalting.

In Lake Macquarie, Swansea Bridge maintenance will take place at night, with one bridge remaining open at all times. A detour will be in place for the Hillsborough Road intersection upgrade between Barker Avenue and Crockett Street, while night work will change traffic conditions on T C Frith Avenue at Boolaroo and Speers Point.

Lane restrictions are also scheduled on the M1 Pacific Motorway between Newport Road and Jigadee Creek at Cooranbong. Further south, a detour will be in place for asphalt repairs on the northbound Doyalson exit ramp at Kiar.

On the Central Coast, the Central Coast Highway intersection upgrade at Tumbi Road is expected to cause delays of up to five minutes.

At Lisarow and Niagara Park, shorter term Gosford Bypass improvements involve night work and turn restrictions. Night work at the Pacific Highway and Chain Valley Bay Road intersection will require lane closures.

Transport for NSW urged motorists to slow down and take care when approaching or passing oversize or overmass loads.

The alert covers state highways and arterial roads managed by Transport for NSW, rather than every road project in the region.
