newy.com.au – Newcastle detectives have renewed an appeal for information about Shane Ryan’s death, seven weeks after the 55 year old’s body was found on a vacant property at Elermore Vale.

Police are urging anyone who had contact with Mr Ryan in late July or early August 2026 to come forward. The renewed appeal was issued on Wednesday, 7 October.

Officers were called to Lake Road about 12.30pm on Wednesday, 19 August after reports a body had been found. Police later identified the man as Mr Ryan.

Newcastle City detectives are investigating the death under Strike Force Draven. In late August, they released a CCTV image showing Mr Ryan at a hotel in Singleton on Friday, 31 July.

In the image, he was wearing a distinctive ‘Holden HSV Racing’ jacket, blue jeans and brown boots. Police described Mr Ryan as being of Caucasian appearance, of medium build and about 170cm tall, with a grey goatee beard, bald head and green eyes.
