newy.com.au – A second man has been charged in an investigation into alleged unauthorised access to the NSW police computer system, with the 42-year-old due to face Belmont Local Court in November.
Police said the man was served with a court attendance notice on Wednesday, 23 September, on a charge of accessing or modifying restricted data held in a computer. He is due to appear in court on Monday, 2 November.
The investigation began in September 2025 after police received reports that an officer was illegally accessing private information and distributing restricted police data.
A 47-year-old sergeant attached to a command in the state’s northern region was subsequently charged in connection with the investigation. Further inquiries led to the charge against the 42-year-old.
