newy.com.au – A motorcyclist has died and another has been critically injured in a crash involving a ute towing a horse float on The Bucketts Way at Booral on Sunday.
Police were called to the crash near Gunns Gully Road about 10.20am on September 20. Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District found the ute had rolled and collided with two motorcycles.
One rider, a man in his 30s, died at the scene. The second rider, a man in his 70s, was treated for serious leg injuries before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
The ute’s driver, an 18-year-old woman, was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require further treatment. The horse in the float was uninjured.
Police allege the driver returned a positive roadside breath test. She was taken to Stroud Police Station for a breath analysis.
Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the crash.
