newy.com.au – A dog who has spent more than 300 days in care will be among the animals visitors can meet when the Hunter RSPCA holds a fundraising bake sale on Thursday, 17 September 2026.
The shelter team will run a stall in the foyer from 9.30am to 2pm as part of the RSPCA’s annual Cupcake Day appeal, with all proceeds from the baked goods and desserts going towards helping animals in need.
Visitors will also be able to meet animals waiting for adoption, including Jokah, whose stay in care has exceeded 300 days, according to the RSPCA. The shelter is encouraging people attending the fundraiser to stop and meet some of its prospective pets.
RSPCA NSW says it received more than 17,000 animal cruelty reports across the state during the 2025-26 financial year. More than 10,000 animals entered its shelters over the same period.
For those unable to attend the Hunter stall, the Cupcake Day appeal also allows supporters to host their own fundraising event at any time during September, with money raised supporting the RSPCA’s work against animal cruelty.
