newy.com.au – A 20-year-old driver has been charged after allegedly threatening another motorist with a samurai sword and assaulting him with a baseball bat during a road rage incident at Doyalson.

Police were called to Doyalson Link Road about 3pm on Wednesday following reports of a confrontation involving the drivers of a Toyota utility and a Subaru sedan.

Police allege the younger driver threatened the 67-year-old Subaru driver with the sword before striking him with the bat and leaving the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the older man for a serious arm injury before taking him to hospital in a stable condition.

Tuggerah Lakes Police District officers went to a home in Murchison Close, Blue Haven, about 3.35pm and arrested the 20-year-old.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with predatory driving, reckless wounding, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and driving a motor vehicle to menace another person with intent.

The man was refused bail and was due to appear before the Bail Division Local Court on Thursday.
