newy.com.au – Overnight lane closures and blacked-out traffic lights will affect the Pacific Highway and Ridley Street intersection at Charlestown for about a month from Monday, 10 August.
Transport for NSW will replace traffic lights, posts, cabling and the controller as part of essential maintenance designed to improve the intersection’s technical performance with new technology.
The traffic lights will be switched off during work hours, with traffic controllers managing vehicles through the intersection. Single-lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will also be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Weather permitting, work will be carried out from 6pm to 5am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and from 9.30pm to 5am on Thursday nights.
Heavy vehicles with ground contact or an overall width greater than three metres must contact the project team on 0403 167 894 at least one day before travelling through the work site. Freight operators can contact the project on UHF channel 24.
Vehicles travelling under a permit must remain on the approved route unless an updated permit has been obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
Motorists have been urged to drive to the conditions and follow all signs and directions from traffic controllers.
