newy.com.au – Applications have opened for Maitland City Council grants of up to $6,000 for local projects and $4,000 for community celebrations.
The council’s Biannual Community Grants Program supports individuals, community groups and organisations delivering initiatives that strengthen social connections and contribute to a thriving, inclusive Maitland.
The Community Projects stream offers grants of up to $6,000 for initiatives responding to local needs. Funding is available across Community Strengthening, Creative Community and Healthy Active Living categories.
Grants of up to $4,000 are available through the Community Celebrations stream for events and activities that encourage participation and foster a sense of belonging. Eligible activities include commemorations such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day, as well as recognised occasions including Reconciliation Week and International Women’s Day.
Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold said more than 40 projects and events had already been supported through the program in 2026.
“Our Biannual Community Grants Program helps locals bring great ideas to life, supporting initiatives that contribute to a thriving and inclusive Maitland.
“More than 40 community projects and events have been supported through Council’s Biannual Community Grants Program in 2026 so far, helping bring local initiatives to life,” Mayor Penfold said.
Applications are open from Monday 3 August until Monday 14 September for projects and events scheduled to take place before 30 June 2027.
“I encourage all eligible community groups and organisations to explore the funding opportunities available and consider how these grants could bring their projects to life. We look forward to supporting more local initiatives that make a positive difference to our community,” Mayor Penfold said.
