newy.com.au – Motorists face overnight delays of up to 20 minutes and changed traffic conditions this week as work continues on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.
Traffic will be stopped for up to 20 minutes while signage is installed over the eastbound lanes of the New England Highway from 10pm on Monday, 27 July, until 6am on Tuesday. Similar stoppages will affect the eastbound ramp from John Renshaw Drive to the New England Highway between 10pm on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.
Motorists have been advised to allow extra travel time and use alternative routes where possible.
Further disruptions are planned at the John Renshaw Drive and Weakleys Drive intersection on Thursday and Friday nights. Southbound M1 traffic will be diverted onto the northbound carriageway under a contraflow arrangement from 7pm to 5am while asphalt work is carried out.
There will be no access to Lenaghans Drive from the southbound lanes of the M1 during those works.
Night-time lane closures, contraflow arrangements, intermittent stoppages and temporary 40km/h speed limits will also be in place from Monday to Friday at sections of the M1 at Beresfield and Black Hill, John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield, the New England Highway at Tarro, and the Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae.
Daytime disruptions are expected from 7am to 5pm between Monday and Friday on Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill, Old Punt Road near the Pacific Highway at Tomago, and the eastbound lanes of the New England Highway at Tarro.
Major construction will continue across the project from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 5pm on Saturday, as well as between 7pm and 5am on weeknights.
Drivers should follow the directions of traffic controllers and roadside signs. Operators of oversize or overmass vehicles wider than specified limits must contact the project team on 1800 094 895 at least one day before travelling, with significant delays possible if advance notice is not provided.
Vehicles travelling under a permit must remain on the approved route unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
Traffic updates are available through the Live Traffic NSW website and app, where users can search for Black Hill or Tomago and follow the incident.
