newy.com.au – Motorists will face overnight closures and detours at the intersection of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass and Pacific Highway at Bennetts Green while maintenance work is carried out.
Transport for NSW will undertake asphalt patching, resurfacing and line marking from 7pm to 5am, starting on Sunday, 19 July. The work is expected to take two nights, weather permitting, with no work to be carried out on public holidays.
Eastbound and westbound movements through the intersection will be closed, including the right turn onto the Pacific Highway from the Pacific Highway. Drivers will need to follow detour signs and directions from traffic controllers.
Single-lane closures, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will also be in place to protect workers and motorists. Drivers have been urged to travel to the conditions and allow for changed traffic arrangements.
Vehicles operating under a permit must remain on the approved route unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. Oversize or overmass operators should contact work supervisor Dean Bailey on 0417 364 984 before arriving at the site.
Motorists can check the Live Traffic NSW website or app for updates, or call 132 701. App users can receive notifications by searching for “Bennetts Green – Newcastle Inner City Bypass”, selecting the incident and clicking “Follow”.
