newy.com.au – Motorists have been warned to expect night-time closures, detours and reduced speed limits across parts of the M1 Pacific Motorway and surrounding roads next week as work continues on the M1 extension to Raymond Terrace.
Transport for NSW says changed traffic conditions will be in place from Monday, 13 July, as construction continues on the Black Hill to Tomago section of the project.
The westbound slip lane from John Renshaw Drive will be closed on Tuesday, 14 July, between 7pm and 5am, with traffic to be detoured via the New England Highway and the Anderson Drive off ramp.
Further changes will affect southbound traffic on the M1 Pacific Motorway on Thursday, 16 July, and Friday, 17 July, also between 7pm and 5am. Traffic will be diverted onto the northbound carriageway of the M1 under a contraflow arrangement at the John Renshaw Drive and Weakleys Drive intersection while asphalt work is carried out. During those works, motorists travelling southbound on the M1 will not be able to access Lenaghans Drive.
Major construction work will continue across the project between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 5pm on Saturday, with out-of-hours work also scheduled from 7pm to 5am on weeknights.
Lane closures, contraflow arrangements, intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h will be in place at several locations. Night works from Monday, 13 July, to Friday, 17 July, will affect the M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill, John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield, the New England Highway at Tarro, and the Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae.
Daytime impacts between 7am and 5pm over the same period will affect Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill, Old Punt Road near the Pacific Highway at Tomago, and eastbound lanes of the New England Highway at Tarro.
Motorists are being urged to allow extra travel time and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers. Transport for NSW thanked motorists for their patience while the work is carried out.
Operators of oversize or over mass vehicles wider than 3.2 metres at ground contact, or with an overall width greater than 4.5 metres, should contact the project team on 1800 094 895 at least one day before travelling. Transport for NSW says significant delays can occur if operators do not make contact before travel.
Vehicles travelling under permit must not leave the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit has been obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
