newy.com.au – Motorists travelling through Beresfield, Black Hill, Tarro, Tomago and Heatherbrae have been warned to expect overnight delays, lane closures and diversions next week as work continues on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.

Transport for NSW said changed traffic conditions would be in place from Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July for the M1 to Raymond Terrace – Black Hill to Tomago project, including temporary speed reductions to 40km/h, contraflow arrangements and intermittent stoppages.

The first major disruption is scheduled for Monday night, when signage will be installed over the eastbound lanes of John Renshaw Drive and the New England Highway between 10pm and 6am. Motorists may be stopped for up to 20 minutes and are being advised to plan for delays or use alternative routes where possible.

On Tuesday night, the westbound slip lane from John Renshaw Drive will be closed between 7pm and 5am, with traffic detoured via the New England Highway and the Anderson Drive off-ramp. Further extended stops of up to 20 minutes are expected on the eastbound lanes of the New England Highway from 10pm to 6am while signage is installed.

Southbound M1 Pacific Motorway traffic will be diverted onto the northbound carriageway at the John Renshaw Drive and Weakleys Drive intersection on Thursday and Friday nights between 7pm and 5am. The contraflow arrangement will allow asphalt work to be carried out, and there will be no access to Lenaghans Drive from the southbound lanes of the M1 during that time.

Major construction work will continue across the project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm on Saturday, and out of hours from 7pm to 5am on weeknights.

From Monday night to Friday night, lane closures, contraflow, intermittent stoppages and 40km/h speed limits will affect the M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill, John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield, the New England Highway at Tarro, and the Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae.

Daytime impacts between 7am and 5pm from Monday to Friday will also affect Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill, Old Punt Road near the Pacific Highway at Tomago, and the eastbound New England Highway at Tarro.

Motorists have been asked to allow extra travel time and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers.

Operators of oversize or over mass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres, or an overall width wider than 4.5 metres, should contact the project team on 1800 094 895 at least one day before travelling. Transport for NSW said significant delays could occur if operators failed to make contact before travel, and vehicles travelling under permit must remain on their approved route unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

More information is available through Live Traffic NSW, including the Live Traffic app, where motorists can search for “Black Hill or Tomago”, select the incident and follow it for updates.
